Assaf Kimmel

Together with the Staatliche Kunsthalle Baden-Baden and an up-and-coming architect who works for internationally renowned brands, institutions and artists, you decide on the size and choice of materials for your future table, where you can work, eat or meet for a lifetime. In response to the changing meaning of distance and proximity, which proved to be a challenge for 2020, Berlin-based architect Assaf Kimmel is working with an award-winning workshop in Baden-Württemberg to test his innovative design forms and ideas. Based on the scenography of Conditions of a Necessity, Twin Tables refers to this very project, which aimed to develop new forms of encounters and collective work. 

Kimmel's Twin Tables are produced on request. They consist of two modules that can be quickly transformed from a single connected table into two tables. The designs are realised in anodised aluminium and powder-coated steel (beige). The edition is limited. The curatorial team is looking forward to talking to collectors about the production process of this unique customised design experience, which is available in S, M and L options.

Assaf Kimmel is an architect and curator living and working in Berlin. His projects operate at the intersection of art, fashion and architecture. He holds a diploma from the Architectural Association (AA) in London and trained as an architect and researcher at the OMA in New York and TEN Arquitectos in Mexico City. Kimmel was co-editor of the AA's magazine AArchitecture and news editor of the Haaretz newspaper in Tel Aviv. Kimmel recently worked with Yael Bartana on her presentation for the German Pavilion at the Venice Biennale 2024. Other exhibition projects include exhibitions by Anne Imhof at the Palais de Tokyo in Paris and the reconstruction of Balenciaga's historic studio. He has previously realised projects for the MMK in Frankfurt, the Staatliche Kunsthalle Baden-Baden and the Schinkel Pavilion in Berlin.
