Förderpreis für Bildende Kunst der Stiftung für Fruchtmalerei und Skulptur - Am Anfang war der Apfel

08.10.–27.11.2016

Artist

  • Stephanie Neuhaus

Curator

  • Johannes Honeck

The starting point for Stephanie Neuhaus' installation is a bronze cast of a banana peel reminiscent of 1980s computer games such as Donkey Kong or Super Mario. The banana as a possible obstacle in the game is reproduced in a 3D printing process over the entire duration of the exhibition. With each additional banana skin, the accessible area of the studio space is reduced and ultimately the space becomes impassable.

The process-like installation is reminiscent of works by Andy Warhol in terms of both motif and content, although Stephanie Neuhaus uses the more recent means of reproduction of 3D printing.

Stephanie Neuhaus (*1989, Arnsberg) lives and works in Ense. She studied Fine Arts at the State Academy of Fine Arts Stuttgart under Prof. Thomas Bechinger from 2012 to 2015. Before that, she studied art education and German language and literature at the universities of Dortmund and Siegen from 2008 to 2012.
