In his artistic practice, Marc Breu (*1984) examines the functions and attributions of objects, spaces and materials. Referring to Sigmund Freud's dream theory, he uses the technique of spatial shifting as well as a condensation of multiple levels of meaning. Both procedures are connected with each other and objects of great semantic density are created, hybrid forms such as „shoe-house-animal“ or „garment-fur-plant“. Stuff shifts into brute, tectonic material becomes organic, gestalt-like forms vanish into thin air. Repeatedly, a momentum of irritation and alienation is involved. For the studio space 45cbm, Marc Breu combines miscellaneous elements to a spatial assemblage, questioning symbolic regimes and inviting us to take a fresh look at quotidian objects.
