The exhibition Chapel (we are all in this alone), presenting works by two Macedonian artists Hristina Ivanoska and Yane Calovski, communicates the idea of belief as contemporary socio-political anomaly.
For the exhibition space 45 cbm of the Staatliche Kunsthalle Baden-Baden the artists developed a new collaborative work – a wall drawing that restages the architecture of “St. Gjorgji“, a 12th century church in the village of Kurbinovo. Macedonia, executed in proportion 1:2,5. The installation also incorporates individual text-based drawings and objects. The works reflect the confrontation with ones political, social and spiritual self and are inspired by the writings of Simone Weil, Luce Irigaray and Paul Thek.
Opening: Friday, September 5th, 7 p.m.
Welcoming speech: Johan Holten, Introduction: Ksenija Čočkova
The exhibition is also part of the project "A Balcony to Balkans". We
cordially invite you to visit the festival of emerging arts from the
Balkan region, taking place from 19th till 21st of September, around the
Marktplatz in Baden-Baden.
