Da ist nichts mehr im Dunkeln

Evelyn Möcking presents an aesthetics of death. In doing so she uses organic components, which visualize life as well as demise. With her sculptural works the artist acts confrontationally and generates an ambivalence, which is primarily material-based. Ambiguity makes the viewer wallow between a sacred atmosphere and a distinctive disgust. The idea of vanity has been a central issue since the baroque era, and it is omnipresent in the artist's work, too. How ephemeral is a human's body? And what does eternity mean in this context?
