For over sixty years, Sarkis has expanded the boundaries of art through photography, collage, film, installation, and new media—interpreting human history as a shared treasure and transforming its suffering through aesthetic and formal innovation. The catalogue 7 Tage, 7 Nächte accompanies Sarkis’s landmark 2023 exhibition at Kunsthalle Baden-Baden. Through vivid visuals and insightful essays, this publication explores Sarkis’s enduring investigations into memory, resilience, and transformation highlighting installations such as L’atelier d’aquarelle dans l’eau (2005–06), a participatory work that invites communal reflection. With contributions from curators Defne Ayas, Çağla İlk, Sandeep Sodhi, and Misal Adnan Yıldız, as well as exhibition readings by Ruth Noack, Lara Fresko Madra, Hou Hanru, and David Kazanjian.
