The artist Sonya Schönberger (*1975) engages with memory traces of the recent German past. Biographical material and found objects nurture her archive of individual historical narratives. Through the performative use of media such as film, photography, sculpture and text as well as in theatrical formats she exposes the fractures and the construction of these narratives.

In her installation at the studio space 45cbm the artist is dealing with the legacy of her grandfather, who served as a Wehrmacht soldier in occupied France. Therefore she creates a disturbingly poetic memory space in which the visitors themselves are set out on a research for traces.
