"I am the ghost of the Mess Yet to Come.

I will be born in the future,

as a witness to times of tremendous turmoil."

For their exhibition at our studio space 45cbm, the two Nuremberg-based artists Christian Orendt (*1980) and Matthias Böhler (*1981), who have been working as a duo since 2007, have teamed up with Felix Burger (*1982), currently holding a scholarship at the Rijksakademie in Amsterdam.

One after another, they appear as apparitions in an elaborate video installation that will be on display at the Kunsthalle. The title of their work refers to Charles Dickens' well-known ghost story of Christmas. Picking up on the didactic-moralistic tone, the artists humorously exaggerate and ironically interrupt the carol: Human freedom seems to be no more than a sequence of failed attempts to do right - no matter how knowledgable or well-intended they may be.

Opening: Friday, September 6, 2013, 7 PM
