Two video works by filmmakers Denise Ferreira da Silva and Arjuna Nauman will be shown as part of the performance program. While Nauman frames the works as an artist, da Silva’s work as a philosopher and scientist is reflected in the films, for example in their themes of global relations including migration, violence, colonialism, and the destruction of the environment. The work of da Silva and Nauman, however, is not only captivating because of its apt, even uncomfortable lens on contemporary realities: Soot Breath/Corpus Infinitum and 4 Waters/Deep Implicancy both also stand out for their exceptionally clear cinematic style and impressive aesthetics.
