Like any good art, jazz has a strong psychic effect and is by no means just head music, as sometimes claimed. Jazz music is rational-emotional and with this oxymoron, but only a seeming contradiction, quite close to the theme of the exhibition. Because jazz has always been part of socio-cultural changes, which of course also affect the psyche. It’s Afro-American music, black and white, emotion and intellect, and the long-standing ARTE editor Thomas Neuhauser will revisit this exciting psychic and psychedelic area of tension with selected and commented music samples.
